The President of Mississippi State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine. Mississippi State University (MSU) is a public land-grant university of approximately 18,000 students located adjacent to Starkville, Mississippi, in the north central part of the state. MSU ranks eighth in the nation in research and development expenditures in agricultural sciences, according to the latest data available from the National Science Foundation.
The Division of Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine is not only vital to the university but also to the state of Mississippi, where agriculture and natural resources account for the largest sector of the state's economy. The VP for Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine reports to the President and oversees a division that conducts research, extension, and service on the University's main campus and through four research and extension centers, 16 branch stations and locations, and Extension offices in all 82 counties in Mississippi.
